Funding

Our 2026 round is now open.
I'm looking for creative projects that happen in, and with, the Rodney community.

Making Art Work – Creative Rodney helps local people make creative things happen. It's funded by the Rodney Local Board.

I want to hear from performers, musicians, artists, makers, writers, film-makers — anyone with something they want to create. It could be dance, film, craft, visual arts, music, kapa haka, spoken word, digital art, a book, a show, an event or an exhibition.

Your idea doesn't have to be fully formed. If it's still just a thought, tell me anyway. That's often the best time to talk.

What I can help with

Money is part of it. Once a year I open this round and fund projects with money from the Rodney Local Board.

But funding isn't the only thing I do. I can help you find a venue, reach an audience, sort out your marketing, or put you in touch with the right people to work with. Some of the projects I support don't need money at all.

Who can apply

  • Local performers, musicians, artists and creatives

  • Community and creative organisations

  • People based in, or working in, the Rodney area

  • Projects that happen in, and with, the local community

Key dates

  • Monday 10 August — round opens

  • Friday 4 September, 5pm — applications close

  • Late September — applicants notified

  • Projects run between October 2026 and June 2027

If the timing doesn't work

Missed the deadline, or the dates don't suit your project? Get in touch anyway. Part of my job is shaping this fund around what you're doing, rather than the other way round — so if the timing doesn't fit, tell me and we'll find a way through. A short email is all it takes.

A note on GST

If you're GST registered, give your budget figures excluding GST. Any grant would be paid to you plus GST, and you'd claim back the GST on your costs. If you're not GST registered, include GST in your figures, because it's a real cost to you.

Who you'll be working with

I'm Renee, the Community Arts, Culture and Events Coordinator for Rodney. My job is to help creative projects happen across the area. If you've got a question — or you're not sure whether your idea fits — get in touch. A short conversation is usually the quickest way to find out.
